Approval has been given by the Kansas State Senate on the modification in the current gambling statutes. If the modification will come in, it is going to ban online gambling inside Kansas.
Once banned, online gambling will be designated as a Class B nonperson crime, which is going to come with a possible penalty of USD 1,000. The guilty party might even be imprisoned for a duration of 6 months.
The amendment was proposed by Jacob LaTurner, who is the State Senator. It passed the general voting at the Kansas State Senate with a 26-11 count. There were three abstentions.
LaTurner, who is a Kansas Republican, has been serving the southeast Kansas. His Area, the Cherokee and Crawford County, is one of the four zones in the state, which have been allowed to have land-based casinos there. At the same time, it is only one of the four zones to yet not have any such facility operating there till date. However, there is a casino, located at a short distance from the zone, in the northeast part of Oklahoma.
Other modifications to the bill include a possible reduction in the investment amount in the gaming zone of southeast Kansas to USD 50-million. Currently, it stands at USD 225-million. This might pave the platform for a smaller facility getting built at lightly populated areas.
